An eye-catching partition
Office Fit Out 2017
- Project Address: Lympne, Kent
10 mm toughened low iron ceramic printed glass panels have been installed at Gx Glass’ new head office to form an eye-catching partition between a common area and their boardroom.
The team at Gx Glass were commissioned by their Managing Directors to produce the partition as part of the fit out of their new 15’000 sq ft factory in Port Lympne.
The design of the partition used the Gx Consultancy service’s prototyping facility; working with the Managing Directors the team identified the type of imagery, colours and finish that they required and worked through a series of digital designs before printing small scale samples for approval.
To achieve the privacy requirement, the team ascertained that creating a two layer print with a white gradient band would provide the light transmission needed whilst eliminating the ability to see through the panels.
Once the samples were approved, the panels underwent a two stage print process, and were then fired during the toughening process.
The panels were installed using a silver anodised slim line partition system which fixed to the floor and ceiling system, providing a smooth gliding action and rubber stops to protect the glass door from impact.
The CeramX-Digital print process is scratch resistant and can be cleaned on the printed side just like glass, providing a long lasting, vibrant centrepiece to the new offices.
“Light transmission was key as the area only receives second hand natural light as it’s in the middle of the building, and we also needed to have privacy so that any screen based presentations wouldn’t be seen outside of the boardroom.” Jacqueline Lush, Managing Director
